September 7, 1921 – March 20, 2020
Martha Anne Dubé, 98, passed away March 20, 2020 at her home in Pioneer Village, Jacksonville, Oregon.
Martha was born to Philip and Hazel Feddersohn in Monrovia, California on September 7, 1921.
She led an idyllic childhood as the eldest daughter of three on their farm.
She attended University of California, Berkeley and Santa Barbara College of the University of California, and graduated with a degree in Home Economics.
Martha met the love of her life, Jack Dubé while in grade school in Southern California.
In 1944, World War II interrupted her preparations for a traditional family wedding. Instead, she dropped everything and took a troop train to Camp Mackall in North Carolina to be married before Jack went overseas as a paratrooper in the 541st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.
After the war, Martha and Jack moved back to the west coast and raised 7 children, 4 girls and 3 boys. Many of those child-rearing years were spent on a small farm off Fern Valley Road in Phoenix, Oregon.
Volunteering for Food and Friends became an important part of their life in retirement.
They moved to Pioneer Village Retirement Home in 2007, where they made wonderful friends and enjoyed many activities.
Jack and Martha were married for 67 years when Jack passed away in 2011.
Martha loved gardening and reading, but being with family was her greatest joy.
Family members and those who knew her would best describe Martha as kind, caring and loving.
Surviving family members include her 3 sons, Steve (Charlotte) Dubé, Ontario, Oregon; John Dubé, Manzanita, Oregon; Tom Dubé, Jacksonville, Oregon; her 3 daughters, Joan Dubé, Jacksonville, Oregon; Anne (Peter) Bellamy, Oregon City, Oregon; Mary Jean Dubé (Hans Dippel), Santa Rosa, California; cherished grandchildren: Marty (Matt) Stockton, Philip Dubé, Mark (Michele) Dubé, Sarah and Simon Bellamy and Jack Dippel as well as 4 great grandchildren, nieces. nephews and their families.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband Jack, daughter Michele, and sisters Mary and Barbara.
She will be reuniting with Jack to enjoy pie and share great stories.
Family would like to thank all the staff at Pioneer Village for the care and support they gave our parents for the past 12 years. We would also like to thank the staff from Providence Home Health and Hospice and Good Life at Home Care who assisted our mother in her home.
