BRITT ADDS MICHAEL FRANTI CHILDREN’S MATINEE, PLANS FOR “TASTE OF SUMMER” CELEBRATION IN DOWNTOWN JACKSONVILLE ON JUNE 11th.

Britt is hosting “Taste of Summer,” to officially open the 2011 Britt season, together with the Chamber of Commerce, the Jacksonville Oregon Business Association and community leaders.

Taste of Summer” will be Saturday, June 11 in downtown Jacksonville. The day will include a host of activities for families and adults
alike, including a newly added matinee concert with Britt favorite Michael Franti.

“Taste of Summer” runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., (with some events starting earlier) and is full of events throughout downtown  Jacksonville, including wine tastings by local wineries; family activities on the courthouse grounds; live music by several groups; demonstrations by Art Presence, a visual arts group; classic cars; paragliders; hot air balloon rides (weather permitting); food booths by Jacksonville restaurants and more.

There is no admission fee to the downtown event; prices for food and wine tastings will vary. Shops and restaurants throughout Jacksonville will also be open throughout the afternoon.

Michael Franti and Friends will perform a children’s matinee on the Britt hill at 3 p.m. on June 11. Tickets for the matinee are $14.50
per person, and free for children two and under. Franti and his band Spearhead will perform at Britt that evening in a 7:30 p.m.
