Doug Fergus and company will be supporting Cyndi Lauper’s “She’s So Unusual” tour performing at the Britt on June 15th from 6-7:15 pm.
Having been described by critics as a” Frank Zappa meets Wierd Al Yankovic”, the Ashland local trio known as Naked In Public will be performing on the Table Rock City Stage prior to the concert.
The name Naked In Public came from an experience Fergus had while watching an individual in Ashland walking down the street with nothing on except a backpack and Hiking Boots. The name later came to become a metaphor for exposing one’s inner self with no shame or regret. Later the band was approached by legendary engineer/ producer Sylvia Massy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, Prince, Tool, Tom Petty) while overhearing a conversation about their music. Massy agreed to produce their debut album “No Filter” which includes Fergus’ clever lyrical style and unique vocal delivery describing life experiences with a quirky enjoyable twist with catchy melodies.
The band has also produced a series of music videos that have gain them further attention with videos like “Grey Haired Lady” (see below) being viewed by over 60,000 members in less than a month on YouTube. Since the inception of the album critics have described the bands style as unique and witty, merging fun energy with true life lyrical content enjoyed by children as well as adults.
Tickets for the evening event are $39 for adults on the lawn and $29 for children 12 and under. and can be purchased at www.brittfest.org
