The Cascade Civil War Society has teamed with the Southern Oregon Historical Society to present “Living History Days” at Hanley Farm, July 7 and 8, 11am to 4pm. Living History Days are your opportunity to experience 19th century life and see the past come alive!
Experience an authentic Civil War encampment and tour the Hanley House, including a special exhibit of firearms owned by early Jacksonville settlers. Or have fun participating in several hands-on activities, enjoy blacksmithing and cooking demonstrations, and take a wagon ride. Your children will enjoy playing heritage games, washing clothes just like they used to, or milking a cow (parents, don’t fret, this is “faux” cow milking!).
You’ll want to have conversations with historical characters dressed in authentic costumes, and say hello to the lovely Belles & Beaus! There are several others participating in this year’s Living History Day celebration, including The Southern Oregon Beekeepers, Rogue Valley Spinners & Weavers, and Little Butte Men. And of course there will be music and great food. Join us for a fun and educational day!
