Open Call Community Exhibit: Animals Unleashed, April 29-May 31; Opening Reception, Saturday, May 2, 1-4pm—Since the dawn of time, animals have captured our imaginations, appearing in everything from ancient cave paintings to modern masterpieces. They’ve been revered as gods, feared as legends, and cherished as companions. Come explore this profound connection in “Animals Unleashed,” a unique community exhibit showcasing a diverse array of animal-inspired art. Don’t miss the chance to see how our local artists interpret the wild world around us!
Member Artist: Nancy Darte—Local artist, Nancy Darte, finds beauty in the unexpected. Her artistic journey has evolved from depicting endangered species to exploring the hidden wonders of the microscopic world. Using a microscope as her guide, Nancy creates captivating works inspired by rocks, insects, and plants found right in her own backyard. Let your curiosity lead the way and experience these imaginative science-meets-art creations for yourself!
Messy Hands: Tataki-zomé Flower Printing with Miranda Caroligne, Saturday, May 9, 1:30-3:00pm—Ever tried “flower pounding?” Join Miranda Caroligne to learn Tataki-zomé, a beautiful Japanese technique that uses natural plant dyes to create stunning prints. We provide the materials, but feel free to bring your favorite blooms, a mallet, and a sense of adventure. Space is limited to 15, so grab your spot for just $5! Third Saturdays: Block Printing with Belinda Moffit, Saturday, May 16, 2-5pm—Spend a creative afternoon with Belinda Moffit and learn the timeless craft of block printing. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned pro, you’ll be guided through every step—from designing and carving your block to pulling your very first print. We provide all the supplies; you just bring the creativity! Limit 15, $40. Registration required at art-presence.org/third-saturdays-at-art-presence (Education > Third Saturdays).
