You probably know us from our See’s Candies trailer at the Calvary Church during the Christmas season, which is our main fundraising activity of the year.
The Kiwanis Club of Jacksonville was chartered in 1974, and is a member of the Pacific Northwest District of Kiwanis International. Jacksonville Kiwanis has been working to improve the lives of children and helping the community by building wheelchair ramps for the needy, running leadership for youth in high school, Student of the Month and Terrific Kids, providing college scholarships for deserving students, organizing Christmas Giving for families in need, working on the Doernbecher Children’s Cancer Program, and more community improvement projects.
We’ve built over 300 wheelchair ramps, in accordance with local building codes. Often the recipient is still in the hospital, unable to come home until the ramp is built.
At South Medford High School, we sponsor the Key Club, whose members learn about leadership and community service. Over the years we have painted the restroom building behind the Jacksonville Post Office, repainted the structures in Doc Griffin Park, and replaced the picnic benches at City Hall.
We are looking for help to do all of these projects and are continually seeking new members. We meet on Wednesdays at noon at the Iron Skillet in Phoenix and invite you to be our guest for lunch and learn how you can help us with these great projects. Call us at 541-500-7242 or 541-261-0384.
