Bee a Leader with the Southern Oregon Bee Association: How Bees Live and Work Together, Wednesday, June 9, 3:00-4:00pm—Honeybees live in groups, just like people! Learn how thousands of bees live and work together in harmony. We will even look at some live honeybees at work in an observation hive. This program will take place outdoors at the Jacksonville Library. Please note, masks & distancing are required. Ages 8+ years.
Take & Make: Community Leader Thank You, week of June 21 through June 24, 10:00am-4:00pm—Give a shout-out to the leaders in your community with this Take & Make! This kit will give you the supplies needed to write a thank you note to whoever you think needs one right now—maybe it’s doctors, fire fighters, garbage collectors, or anyone else! Hang it in your window, or put it in your yard to let your community know that you’re thinking of them. Pick up a ‘Take and Make’ at the Jacksonville Library while supplies last. Ages 3+ years.
Poetry Reading: Community, Thursday, June 24, 6:00-7:00pm—Five local poets will read their works and answer questions about their writing process and their experiences of finding and building community in unique ways. Come join us and hear this outstanding local talent! This event will take place on Zoom. Registration required.
Southern Oregon Songwriters Association Outdoor Performance, Saturday, June 26, 11:00am-1:00pm—Local songwriters will perform their own original works outdoors in front of the library. Come for all or part of this morning concert and enjoy our incredible, local musical talent! This event will take place outdoors at the Jacksonville Library and will be socially distanced.
Learn to Lead with Sanctuary One, Wednesday, June 30, 2:00-3:00pm—Sanctuary One is a care farm located in the Applegate Valley. They believe that people, animals, and the Earth are better together. To make this vision possible, they need the support of volunteers, and Sanctuary One has a role for everyone. Learn what a day in the life of a Sanctuary One volunteer is like, and what skills their volunteers learn that can translate into real-world application. You’ll also get the chance to meet the Sanctuary One Goat Ambassadors Ned, Lucky, and Dusty. This event will take place outdoors at the Jacksonville Library.
