Dear Councilors:
Reference is made to the City Council Agenda of January 4, 2011 regarding appointment for the vacant Mayor Position and Councilor position if necessary.
I would be honored to be considered for appointment to serve Jacksonville as a city councilor if the process presents us with a vacant council seat.
My involvement with the local political process and service on many city committees has been done in an effort to be prepared to serve our community in a leadership role. As you are aware, I ran for the City Council this last 2010 election losing by only 3 votes.
It takes education, volunteer time, and commitment to understand how municipal government works and having spent 4 years on various city committees, I have had the opportunity to understand how the city codes and comprehensive plan guides us. As a member of the Planning Commission I have become educated with the city codes and comprehensive plan’s goals and policies. I value the Jacksonville Comprehensive Plan as the vision of Jacksonville citizens. I am committed to protect and preserve our small town’s historic designation and character.
I would be honored to serve our community as a city councilor.
