Linda Otto, a Jacksonville resident recently performed at the Camelot Theatre’s production of “Crimes of the Heart” as Chick – the uppity Aunt! Linda was great, as were her co-stars in the show.
Yesterday’s matinee performance was the last one of the show, and the last one for the Camelot Theatre in the existing location. A brand new 164-seat theater has been built next door, and will open for the next show.
Artistic Director, Livia Genise, gave a moving introduction about the new Camelot Theater, the need for funds to keep it running, and the amazing lineup for the rest of 2011 and 2012. The Spotlight’s are still on the docket, and some great shows, including “Sweeney Todd,” “Into The Woods,” and “The Sunshine Boys.”
Ms. Genise mentioned that the old theater has been purchased and will be moved to another location in Talent, to be used as a private theater.
This Publisher is always impressed by the quality of the shows, the talent of the performers and the heart of this theater. I look forward to attending more at the beautiful, new venue!
