Are you passionate about protecting pollinators? Would you like to join a dedicated and engaged team of people who work together to help the bees, butterflies, beetles, and birds of Jacksonville? If so, we welcome you to bee a part of JPS—the Jacksonville Pollinator Society!

Formed May 2017, JPS had its origins as the Bee City leadership team, with the specific goal of helping Jacksonville earn the Bee City USA (BCU) designation following BCU’s mission of galvanizing the community to sustain pollinators. In the absence of full support of City Council, the BCU goal has been put on hold for reassessment. Through community events, education and pollinator habitat-related projects, we maintain the mission to protect and sustain Jacksonville pollinators, thus our local ecology, our food sovereignty, human health, and our children’s futures.

We love our volunteers who are from all backgrounds and ages, including youth advocates—a valuable part of our team.

Regardless of experience or skills, we welcome anyone who is passionate about protecting the environment through sustaining pollinators. We’re also hopeful to find volunteers with specific knowledge of native plants and pollinators, alternatives to pesticides, beekeeping, project or volunteer management, marketing, outreach, social media, and fundraising.

JPS is deeply grateful to all the businesses and residents in our community who have donated funds that help us provide literature to educate the public, participate in community projects, grow pollinator habitat, and host events.
