Local author, Pamilla Formeller will share her new children’s book, Miracle on Fifth, during a special storytime on Saturday, December 15 from 10:30-11:30am at the Jacksonville Library, 340 West “C” Street.
Winner of the children’s literature category of the Sno-Isles libraries’ “Spirit of Writing” contest, Miracle on Fifth was inspired by the true story of the demolition of the First United Methodist Church located in Seattle, Washington. Miracle on Fifth is a Christmas story about a lonely, little boy named Andy Austin who possesses truly magical, musical talents. However, he sometimes finds it difficult to remain true to his talents when teased and bullied. As the community works feverishly raising funds to save a historical church and its 100-year-old pipe organ from demolition, another disaster strikes.
Formeller is a journalism graduate of San Jose State University. She worked as a freelancer for several Bay Area papers and for the Sacramento Bee. She later served as editor for the California Accountant’s magazine and subsequently the Sacramento Building Industry Association’s magazine. Now retired, Formeller writes children’s books and resides in Whidbey Island, Washington and Jacksonville, Oregon.
