Jacksonville Garden Club 2013 Holiday Greens Sale: A Circle of Giving
Friday, December 6, 10:00am-2:00pm & Saturday, December 7, 9:00am-2:00pm
The Jacksonville Garden Club’s annual Holiday Greens Sale sets in motion a unique circle of giving. First pine, cedar and holly trees in our local forests give up some of their fragrant boughs for holiday centerpieces. Local gardens and trails provide flowers, leaves, seeds and grasses to be incorporated into lovely handmade papers and envelopes. Garden Club members contribute their time, energy and creativity to make beautiful baskets, table arrangements and swags. By purchasing these holiday items, local residents provide the funds for student scholarships at Rogue Community College and for support of the Oregon Stewardship. In turn, the students give back to our region by pursuing studies that enrich our environment. Funds also support local beautification projects such as the Peter Britt Garden, the Post Office Garden and maintenance of Scheffel-Thurston Park, all of which contribute to the quality of life in our town.
You can be part of this wonderful giving circle by stopping at the Holiday Greens Sale, which will be held this year on Friday, December 6, from 10:00am-2:00pm, and Saturday, December 7, from 9:00am-2:00pm, in the alcove next to the Jacksonville Post Office (near the intersection of Oregon and California Streets). The Saturday sale will be open during Jacksonville’s Victorian Christmas parade, adding to the holiday fun. A variety of table arrangements, designer baskets and swags will be available to decorate your own home or to give as wonderful gifts to family or friends. Unique handmade papers and envelopes will also be offered. Enjoy the Victorian holiday spirit in downtown Jacksonville, support a good cause and brighten your holidays with lovely natural greens!
