Fuel reduction debris collection for all Firewise Neighborhoods in the city of Jacksonville to be held Saturday, May 4th, 2019, National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day.
Firewise Neighborhood coordinators, together with the Oregon Department of Forestry, Jackson County, the Jacksonville CERT Team, the Jacksonville Fire Department and the City of Jacksonville, are hosting this event as one of several steps being taken to reduce wildfire risk to our city.
Residents located in a Firewise Neighborhood are invited to take their yard trimmings and fuel reduction debris to the “D” Street Parking Lot adjacent to the Jacksonville Public Works Yard. The Public Works Yard is adjacent to the Library and accessed off of “C” Street. Debris will be collected between 8:30am and 5pm.
All yard debris and fuel reduction materials will be collected. Woody material that can be chipped will be chipped on-site at the parking lot. Material that cannot be chipped will be collected in a separate bin. Please no rocks, dirt, sod, bark chips, or processed wood. Otherwise “if it grows, it goes”!
This will be our second year that all debris will be collected on a single day and is open to all Firewise Neighborhoods to satisfy the Firewise Activity required to remain a certified Firewise Neighborhood. Let’s make this event the best ever! If you have any questions, please call the Jacksonville Fire Department at 541-899-7246.
