UPDATED ON MARCH 11, 2020–This afternoon, 3/11/2020, the Boosters Club Board of Directors made the difficult decision to postpone the Home and History Tour, previously scheduled for May 2-3. While we deeply appreciate the work done by our volunteers and the generosity of those who offered to open their homes, the escalating concerns associated with the Corona Virus cannot be ignored. Nationally, the disease was declared a pandemic today; closer to home, Jackson County Health and Human Services dept, recommended that “[P]eople in a high-risk category, such as those over sixty” or those with underlying health concerns avoid crowed places and consider “some restriction to keep themselves safe.” Most of our members and guests would fit into the high-risk category.
We look forward to rescheduling the Home and History tour at a time when the medical crisis has abated. We appreciate your patience, and we will keep you posted. We will be contacting contributors and ticket holders regarding refunds or credit toward the rescheduled event.
FEBRUARY 24, 2020–On May 2 and 3, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, the Jacksonville Boosters Club will present their biennial Home and History Tour. The event is the major fundraiser for the club and is dedicated to celebrating the rich history of Jacksonville. Ticket holders will be in for a great treat as they experience the charm and history of Jacksonville. The event will be officially launched at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 2 at the New City Hall, formerly the Old Court House. At that time, Jacksonville Mayor, Paul Becker will officiate at a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the recently-completed Boosters “Path Through Time” project, featuring sidewalk inlays depicting significant people and events of historic Jacksonville.
You may pick-up your tour booklet at the New City Hall at any time on May 2nd or 3rd and board one of the trolleys provided to explore four Jacksonville historic homes. This year’s homes and stops on the tour include a reimagined 40’s cottage and a Presidential suite and then the tour will finish with a complimentary wine tasting at the former home of Robbie Collins, the founder of the Jacksonville Boosters Club at South Stage Cellars.
A $20.00 ticket allows you to attend on either day, or you can split your touring up over two days. Tickets can be purchased by credit or debit card by visiting the Boosters website at www.jacksonvilleboosters.org/hometour.html. Tickets are also available at the Boosters ticket booth outside the Jacksonville Post Office from April 17 to May 1 from 10:00 am – to 2 pm. This event always sells out, so we recommend you purchase your tickets early.
