It is with great sadness that the family announced the passing of former JV Police Officer, Billy Snow. Billy was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his children Gary and Cheryl (Scott); Granddaughter Merissa (Brandon); Grandson AJ (Tammy); Great-Granddaughter Iris, Great-Grandson Oliver, his brother Hank, and sisters Brenda, Carolyn, and Janice.
Billy was Born to Henry and Helen Snow in Dermott Arkansas on March 5, 1951, and passed away on January 2, 2024. Billy graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1969, and after high school married his sweetheart, Bev. The couple welcomed Gary in 1972, and their daughter, Cheryl, three years later. Billy was a volunteer firefighter for Jacksonville Fire Department and worked in the mills before becoming a police officer for Jacksonville PD in 1982.
When not working, he coached Little League, took up Team-Roping with the family horses, Doc, and Lacey. Billy took early retirement in 2001 after 22 years of distinguished service to the city to follow his passion in construction as a contractor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and when not hunting or fishing, he was golfing on the open green. He was also a great storyteller.
Members of the community are invited to join in a celebration of life on April 13 at 2pm at the “Barn,” at 275 N. 3rd Street, Jacksonville. There will be a food truck and beverages available. For more information, contact Scott Meyer at scottmeyer889@yahoo.com.
