“History Saturday” – a monthly program offered this year by the Friends of the Historic Jacksonville Cemetery is this Saturday, July 9th.
This fun & informative program will feature a tour of the Masonic Section of the Jacksonville Cemetery. Learn the history of this fraternal organization and visit the grave-sites of many well known and respected early residents of Jacksonville, who are buried in this section.
This will be the 4th Program in the series running through the Second Saturday in December. Program starts at 10a.m and runs approximately an hour to an hour and a half. Meet your Docents at the top of Cemetery Road by the flag pole and there is parking is available in the cemetery. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Program is free and donations are always appreciated and help to support our educational programs and cemetery restoration projects. Visit our web site www.friendsjvillecemetery.org for a complete Program listing and notice of other events and activities.
We look forward to welcoming you to this very popular presentation and the Jacksonville Cemetery.

This is a very enjoyable, entertaining, and informative event! The volunteers are well-prepared and obviously put in long hours to make it high-quality. The event is free and they don’t push for donations, but it would be nice if everyone attending put a little something in the donation box. It’s also helpful to sign the visitor’s log so the group can demonstrate to supporting agencies how many people care about the cemetery.
