Historic Landmark Education 101
Jacksonville Planning Director Amy Stevenson is holding a study session to help alleviate confusion regarding our city’s Historic Landmark District status. The session is open to the public at Old City Hall on February 19 at 4:30 pm and will also serve as a special meeting for members of the City Council, Planning and Historic Commissions.
Stevenson will be joined by the Assistant Director of Oregon’s State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to help dispel myths and rumors about Jacksonville’s Historic Landmark District and answer questions such as:
-What is a National Historic Landmark District?
-Is the entire City of Jacksonville a National Historic Landmark District?
-Is your house on the National Register?
-Is your house on the City’s Landmark List?
-Is your property contributing or non-contributing to the District?
-Who regulates what I can and can’t do with my property? Is it the City or SHPO or the National Park Service?
-How can I get a plaque on my property?
