The Southern Oregon Historical Society is pleased to announce the Annual Heritage Plant Sale at the Historic Hanley Farm, May 7 and 8, 2016 from 10am to 3pm. Hanley Farm is at 1053 Hanley Road between Jacksonville and Central Point. Admission is free.
Three generations of the Hanley family lived on and worked this farm starting in 1857. In 1982, Mary Hanley gave 37 acres and the lovely Hanley home to the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Each Hanley generation planted special trees, shrubs and flowers around their home. Today many of these plants have been propagated, and you may purchase them for your own garden.
Lilacs, peonies, old rose varieties, hellebores, anemones and nearly 30 other varieties of flowering perennials, as well as heritage tomato plants, will be on sale. All proceeds benefit the Southern Oregon Historical Society and its mission to make history come alive.
In addition to the plant sale, there will be many activities from guided house tours ($5) and garden tours to hayrides and a scavenger hunt. Food will be available for purchase and special gift items will be found at the Mercantile. A special treat for Mother this year will be a teatime bower of flowers in which you may take a family photo.
