State of the Art Presence – June 2024

TEMPERATURES RISE in June, and Art Presence is heating up right along with the weather! We have lots of creative activities happening throughout June: a special exhibition of envelope art, book readings, hands-on classes, as well as new Guest and Member artists…

June Guest Artist: Catie Faryl—We are honored to show the work of Activist Artist Catie Faryl. Catie’s artwork addresses the ambiguity and poignancy of the human condition through watercolors, etchings, and oil paintings using humor, balance, insight, and gravity to explore questions new and old. You can see some of her work prior to visiting the gallery at https://www.catiefaryl.net. But we always recommend experiencing artwork in person. Join us to meet and converse with Catie during the Opening Reception, which will be held Saturday, June 1, 1-4pm.

Member Artist of the Month: Susan Nahabedian—You may find yourself feeling a little Zen while experiencing Susan’s watercolor works, known for her exquisite renderings of rocks, boulders, cliffs, and water. Come explore her renderings of nature anytime this month.

Special Exhibition in June and July: Envelope Art!—Anyone remember sending letters in the mail? Some of our members do, and we’re excited to show off their ideas for decorative envelopes from around the world. During June and July, their fun and clever envelope art will be on display in our Gift Shop. You can do a little shopping for smaller items including the artistic envelopes while you’re enjoying their engaging envelopes.

Messy Hands: Make Your Own Envelope Art—Want to make your own artistic envelope? Learn to create your own Envelope Art with artists Char Wirfs and Katharine Gracey during our next Messy Hands Workshop on Saturday, June 8, 1:30-3pm, in our upstairs classroom. All supplies will be provided. Recommended donation: $5. Contact Char at charwirfs@gmail.com for details.

Book Reading: Frank De Luca—Also, during our Opening Reception, local author Frank De Luca, PhD will be reading from and talking about his book “A Field Guide to Humans: Enriching Relationships through the Enneagram.” The Enneagram is a model of nine personality types, as a lens through which people can see and understand each other. This will be a very interesting event.

Wow! There is so much to see and do at Art Presence this month! Check out our calendar of events—it is constantly being updated: https://art-presence.org/events/.

Summer hours continue this month: Wednesday-Saturday, noon-5pm, and Sunday 10am-3pm.
