OCTOBER’S DOUBLE FEATURE MOVIE BILLING
Be sure to come to Movie Night in Jacksonville, Oregon at Old City Hall. Organized by our own Mayor, Paul Becker, it is a true community event. AND – Mayor Becker even managed to work with the city on getting new, comfy chairs!
If you love political satire and social commentary about the American public, all done in a light and humorous way, you’ll want to see THE DARK HORSE. The story is based on a candidate for governor, chosen in a convention by mistake, who is “the dumbest man in the world.” His campaign slogan, dreamed up by his shyster manager (played to perfection by Warren William) is “Vote for Hicks from the sticks.” A very young Bette Davis plays the love interest but it is Warren William who absolutely steals the show. His character literally jumps off the screen.
The second feature pairs Warren William with Barbara Stanwyck in THE SECRET BRIDE… an action packed 64 minute film of corruption and murder in a political setting.
Be there on Friday, October 19th – THE DARK HORSE screens at 7 PM in Old City Hall. It’s running time is 75 minutes. THE SECRET BRIDE screens at 8:30 PM.
