The Jacksonville Fire Department will be hosting their 2013 Fire Prevention Week public Open House on Thursday, October 10 at The Fire Station located at 180 N. 3rd Street. The event is scheduled from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. There will be free hot dogs, safety tips, games for the kids and don’t forget Sparky the fire dog will be there. The department will also be holding a lunchtime event at Jacksonville Elementary School on October 10 & 11 with a hose crawl, bunker relays, smoke detector drill, and fire vehicle displays.
This year, the National Fire Protection Association theme is “Protect Your Family from Fire,” with an emphasis on how to Prevent Kitchen Fires.
