Owners to focus exclusively on winemaking & travel
May 12, 2015- Ruch, Oregon: Fiasco Winery is the very first Applegate Valley winery that visitors reach on the Applegate Wine Trail from all points east and is just 7 miles from Jacksonville. When owners Dave & Pam Palmer first purchased the site, it required a complete restoration which culminated with the construction of the tasting facility in 2008.
“Fiasco represents the fulfillment of a dream to create a comfortable and friendly neighborhood gathering place while introducing friends and vinophiles to the exciting wines we produce from our estate vineyard,” says owner Dave Palmer.
In 2008 under the “Jacksonville Vineyards” label, the first Fiasco Wines were introduced to market. Over the course of the last 7 years Fiasco Winery has become known as a local’s favorite and a tourist must-see. As one of the few wineries that serve food, Fiasco features Chef Jesse Sword’s culinary mastery in a joint dining venture known as the “GrapeVine Gourmet”. Warm summer weekends on the sun-deck, under the night stars enjoying fabulous meals, local musicians playing live concerts is a community entertainment anchor in the Applegate Valley.
Since building their vineyards at the historic William Matney Homestead near Fiasco in 1997, and following that success creating Fiasco Winery, the Palmers have become grandparents five times. Their grandkids gallop and giggle across long rows of vines, help with bottling, and summer nights often bunk with grandpa in the treehouse nestled in the huge Madrone near the wine cellars at their 1897 farmhouse.
“With these moments in mind, we are diverting our energies and talents to our nearby estate and plan to sell the tasting room/winery,” says Palmer. “Our future plans include continuing to offer award-winning limited release wines in both our Jacksonville Vineyards and Fiasco Winery labels.”
Dave retired as a USAF and FedEx International airline pilot with 30 years of global travel in 2008, having lived or worked in over 50 countries. Pam insists that now is their time to travel together once again. Dave hasn’t been on a commercial flight since building Fiasco, but now he readily agrees, “Our time has come”.
Fiasco Winery is located at 8035 Hwy 238. For more information, visit the website at www.JacksonvilleVineyards.com.

To folks who’ve heard rumors that Dave & Pamela are divorcing, so naturally we have listed Fiasco – Are you kidding!!!
We’re sorry to let Fiasco go, but we’re very excited about our future!
Oh, we hope to be a happy couple for another 45 years!
So there!
Uncle Dave and Aunt Pam,

Your niece,

Pam and Dave, So sorry to hear of your pending divorce! What a crock! Haaaa! I truly wish you the utmost pleasure in life and years of exploring the world together my friends!!!
The “lower” tasting room will never be the same without you but since you will just be a tad further up the road leave a necktie on the fence post if you don’t want any visitors. Otherwise…..
Cheers my friends!

Dave and Pam. A mix of feelings about this. So glad you are casting aside the constraints that kept you from flying (in many ways) but sad that the Palmer spirit will be leaving the tasting room. We enjoyed our time in the Wine Club very much. From England we wish you the very best.

In the 20 years I’ve been coming to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival, one of my trip highlights has always been the day of wine tasting through the Applegate Valley in general, and at Fiasco in particular. And recently, I’ve especially enjoyed coming to the tasting room an additional day to sit outside all afternoon, sip wine (Claret ’03 — yumm!), and watch the sky fill with gaggles of paraglider pilots. There will be little loss of ambiance in moving my memories back to the winery under the massive madrone on the hill as long as Dave and Pam are Fiasco’s vintners. Though their wines are among my favorites, it’s the Palmer personality that seals the deal. Thanks, good luck, and see you next year!
We love Pam and Dave, and there wines. Fiasco was a safe place for us to go and enjoy quite time when we were caring for our mom. We will miss Fiasco but we are so happy for them. Lovely couple, may life be good to you.
Dave/Pam,What a smart decision! It id a brave and difficult choice!, Go for the gold!
love,
Dad and Judith
