All classes begin at 10:00am and are located at Shooting Star Nursery unless indicated otherwise. Space is limited, so please be sure to register at www.roguevalleynursery.com/class. A minimum of 5 attendees is needed for a class, otherwise the class may be canceled.
February 15, 10:00am: Building Healthy & Nontoxic Soil—There are lots of ways to deal with challenging soil that don’t rely on chemical fertilizers or over-tilling. Join Joey and learn how to determine what type of soil you have, and discover the best practices for adding to your soil’s health and structure, as well as supporting important soil microorganisms and worms. Registration fee $15 each or $25 per couple.
February 15, 1:00pm: Bareroot Basics: Fruit Tree Planting, Pruning & Training—Kick-off bare root fruit tree season with an expert tutorial on how to give your bareroot fruit trees their best start, as well as learning to care for young trees as they mature. Fruit trees are a great addition to any yard and this class will show you pruning methods for a wide variety of trees, including techniques for smaller spaces, like espaliering. Bring your warm clothes and gloves for this outside demonstration class. This is one of our most popular classes, so sign up early—we’ll have hot coffee ready for you! Registration fee $15 each or $25 per couple.
February 22, 1:00pm: Advanced Fruit Tree Pruning & Training—This class is for those who have established fruit trees and would like to know how to care for and prune them for best fruit production and health. Enjoy some coffee, treats, and live demos with our fruit tree experts. Registration fee $15 each or $25 per couple.
February 29, 10:00am: Pruning & Growing for Bounty: Grapes and Blackberries—Two of the easiest fruits to grow at home—grapes and blackberries—can also be the most unruly. Learn how to get control of these easy-to-grow powerhouses. Annual pruning can be all you need to keep your fruit harvest abundant and your plants healthy. Join us for some onsite demonstrations. We will also discuss the care and pruning of blackberries and raspberries. Registration fee $15 each or $25 per couple.
