Dogs for the Deaf Dog Walk raised $20,000!
June 2 dawned with rain and dark clouds, but the sky cleared as we began setting up for our annual fundraiser in Medford, Oregon, and the day ended up being absolutely perfect with just enough sun and warmth for everyone to be comfortable and have a fun time. As the 4-legged participants arrived and excitedly pulled their human partners toward all the fun and activities, it was clear that we were going to have a great day. Dogs of every size, shape, and color were on hand and ready for action.
All day, Q100.3 Radio provided music and M.C. talent. Rogue Canine Agility performed agility demonstrations and then provided coaching sessions for those wanting to take their dogs through the course. Dr. Rob Landon did a seminar on Allergies in Dogs, and the Jackson County Search and Rescue Team demonstrated their skills. Participants walked the almost-3 mile path to Bear Creek Park and back and then were treated to a hot dog lunch provided by Safeway and served by the State of Jefferson Antique Car Club. The costume contest provided laughs and showed great creativity in the excellent costumes representing “21 – Blackjack.”
The day ended with presentations of awards for the individuals and teams who raised the most donations for the event.
Net proceeds for Dog Walk were nearly $20,000.00. That will certainly go a long way towards helping us in our mission to rescue dogs and help people.
We want to thank all who helped make this day a success—our generous sponsors, the participants, those who donated, and all of our staff and volunteers. Thank you to everyone.
