Saturday, April 9th is pick-up day for Jacksonville’s Food Project, coordinated by Susan Whipple. Every other month, residents are encouraged to fill a green bag and leave it for volunteers to pick up at their homes. A new bag will be left to refill. This food project, called the “Medford Food Program” has been very successful so far – raising thousands of pounds of food for needy families in our area.

Food is delivered to local food pantries, and more. The organization is the brain child of John Javna.  He claims one in seven people need food assistance in Jackson County. The food is distributed to over 20 food shelters in the area, such as ACCESS, Salvation Army, Saint Vincent DePaul, and the Medford Gospel Mission.

If you would like a bag to fill, or would like to help out and coordinate efforts in your neighborhood, please call Susan Whipple at 541-899-1458!
