Chamber Chat – August 2026

CYCLE OREGON is rolling into Jacksonville this August, and our little town is about to shine in a very big way. As riders crest the hills and glide into the valley, they’ll discover what we already know—Jacksonville is at its best in late summer—alive with music, history, hospitality, and that unmistakable sense of community pride.

For five days, August 28–September 2, Cycle Oregon Rally will bring roughly 500 cyclists to Southern Oregon, with Jacksonville serving as one of the event’s two basecamps. Riders will pedal through vineyard-lined backroads, forested ridgelines, and the storied Applegate Trail, but it’s the time spent in town—sharing meals, exploring shops, listening to live music—that will leave the deepest impression. As Cycle Oregon puts it, “All you have to do is ride; we take care of everything else.” And Jacksonville is ready to take care of the rest.

August is already one of our most vibrant months. The Britt hill echoes with summer concerts, local tasting rooms buzz with visitors, and our historic district feels like a living postcard. With Cycle Oregon in town, that energy will grow even stronger. Riders will enjoy local lodging in town and tent camping at Bigham Knoll, catered meals, daily entertainment, yoga, massage services, and fully supported routes—but they’ll also be encouraged to explore Jacksonville’s shops, restaurants, museums, salons, spas and miles of local trails. This is our chance to welcome hundreds of new visitors who may return again and again.

The Chamber is coordinating with Cycle Oregon on volunteer recruitment, community activities, and special offerings for riders. Local groups—from Cycle Analysis and Rotary to the Community Center and Jacksonville Woodlands Association—will have opportunities to participate in paid volunteer roles, creating meaningful fundraising opportunities. Businesses will be featured in the official Ride Guide, and we’re assembling a list of in town activities for riders on layover days: historic tours, wine tastings, museum visits, trolley rides and more.

Residents near Bigham Knoll will receive a detailed schedule outlining setup days, quiet hours, parking plans, and programming. Cycle Oregon is committed to minimizing impacts and maximizing community benefits, including professional sanitation, controlled generator use, and indoor evening programming.

Most importantly, this event is a celebration of rural Oregon—its landscapes, stories, and people. Jacksonville’s charm, hospitality, and historic character make it an ideal host. As one past rider said, “Riding with Cycle Oregon makes me feel like a kid again—wake up, ride, eat, laugh, sleep. Repeat.” This August, Jacksonville gets to be part of that magic.
