ACCESS faces critical need for volunteers to help harvest fresh fruits and vegetables for hungry residents of Jackson County.

(MEDFORD, OR) – ACCESS needs volunteers to help harvest fresh produce from the Gold Hill ACCESS Food Share Garden.

This high productive community garden helps support the nutritional needs of local ACCESS food pantries and partner agencies, starting with the community of Gold Hill. The garden is operated by local community volunteers who plant, maintain and harvest the crops. In addition to learning gardening techniques, volunteers can enjoy some of the bountiful excess harvest. And no experience is necessary.

“It’s easy to volunteer,” said Nan King, ACCESS Food Share Garden Developer. “If you can give at least one hour, one morning a week, you will be helping ensure that those most in need have access to nutritious fresh produce. Plus, working in the garden is great exercise.”

Harvesting is daily, Monday through Saturday from now until October, from 8 am until 11:30 am at the Lampman Road Baptist Church, 100 Lampman Road in Gold Hill. There is no harvest on Sundays.

For more information, volunteers can contact King at 541-779-6691 ext. 309, or freshaccess@accesshelps.org.
