Sipping & Playing in Jacksonville – November 2025
WHEN HISTORY and modern flavor come together, the result is something truly special. That is exactly what guests will find at McCully House Inn, Jacksonville’s oldest operating home-turned-inn. Inside its walls, the McCully House Pub & Lounge has quickly become one of the most talked-about destinations in town.
A Pub with Prestige—The McCully House Pub & Lounge offers a warm, intimate space that feels like both a neighborhood gathering place and a retreat for travelers. The cocktails are crafted with care and are gaining national recognition.
When a friend told me that the Hyland Vesper had been recognized in Forbes, I knew I had to try it. I can happily report it did not disappoint. Crisp, smooth, and balanced, it was the perfect way to start the weekend. Alongside it, the McCully Manhattan has become a favorite for those who enjoy a spirit-forward classic with a Northwest touch. From margaritas to cosmopolitans to gin and tonics, there is something on the menu for every taste. And if cocktails are not your thing, the pub also offers wine and beer.
The pub also offers a thoughtful food menu, making it easy to settle in for a full evening. You will find croissant sandwiches, sausage rolls, seasonal salads, soups, and even McCully puff pastry burger bites. The food feels like a modern nod to pioneer-inspired faire, hearty enough to pair with a bold cocktail but approachable enough to share with friends over a long afternoon.
A Place to Gather—I recently attended an event held in the back area of McCully House, and it was absolutely wonderful. Having a new, large event space in Jacksonville is such a welcome addition for our community. It works beautifully for private parties, celebrations, and gatherings where you want a space that feels both polished and welcoming.
Where History Meets Hospitality—The story of McCully House does not stop with the bar. Built in 1860, it is the oldest home in Oregon still operating as an inn. Recent updates celebrate that history while providing modern comfort. Plush mattresses and updated bathrooms ensure that overnight guests enjoy both heritage and luxury. Its location in the center of Jacksonville makes it an easy walk to tasting rooms, shops, and galleries.
Family-Friendly Comfort—One of my favorite touches is the outdoor space. As a parent, it is refreshing to have a place where kids can be themselves while adults relax with a drink. The garden and patio offer enough room for little ones to move around without worrying about disturbing other guests.
Why You Should Go Now (Updated 11/05/25) — McCully House is open Wednesday–Sunday, noon–5pm! Enjoy all-day happy hour and live music every Sunday—Celtic Sundays (1–3pm) on the third Sunday of each month and local favorites (2–4pm) on all others. Cozy by the fire or relax on the patio—your perfect Sunday spot awaits.
For me, it is the mix of it all. A cocktail that made Forbes, food that makes you want to linger, and space for the kids to play outside. The McCully House Pub & Lounge is not just a pub; it is quickly becoming a go-to gathering spot in Jacksonville.
Disclaimer: I’m just a wine-loving mom with no formal wine education. Just a mission to find the best places to sip, stay, and savor in Southern Oregon.
I lived in the McCully House as a kid early to late 50’s.
It was filled with McCully artifacts.
The attached school rooms had stacks of old books.
I still have a small handful of those books.
