Summer is here and we are excited to be open and welcoming visitors to Jacksonville!

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Amanda Moreira and I am the Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Center. I have been with the Chamber since October 2019 and am eager to put into place many of the advertising plans for Jacksonville that have been on hold for the past two years. My husband and I moved to Jacksonville in 2018. We have four young children and can’t think of a better place to raise a family.

As Director of the Chamber, I work with our volunteer Board of Directors and all of our Chamber Members to promote our small businesses to both locals and visitors, alike. Our goal is to make Jacksonville the home base for visitor/travelers as they explore the Rogue Valley and Southern Oregon.

You may have noticed some of the new business changeovers that have been happening this past year. Terra Firma is now Calathea Home & Gift and continues to carry the same great selection of home décor, gift items, clothing and more. Farmhouse Treasures is now the new home of Pickety Place, a great place to find unique vintage and antique items. You can also still find their famous Mrs. Beekman’s Fudge at Violets & Cream. Happy Alpaca recently opened in June and is our new toy store and children’s boutique. Our newest wine tasting room in town is Remotion Wine, offering a selection of premier wines. Trotting Fox Boutique, a women’s clothing shop, has moved from its location on S. Oregon Street and is now in the old offices of the Jacksonville Review on California Street. Jackass Freight Co. is the new brewery in town and located next door to its sister store, Anchor Valley Wine. Our new local bank, People’s Bank has a new ATM (coming soon) on California St. WillowCreek Gifts has new owners, newlyweds, Daniel and Emma Root, who carry the same mix of gift items that we all love. We also have new ownership and exquisitely remodeled lodging at the historic Jacksonville Inn and a complete restoration of the Kubli Haus, with 4 new, beautiful luxury vacation rental suites ready for booking. As you can see, there are lots of new things to see and do here in Jacksonville. Be sure to stop in at the Visitor Information Center for recommendations, additional information and to take a ride on the Jacksonville Trolley. We are open Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-3pm.

If you have any questions, concerns or fun marketing ideas you would like to share, please feel free to email me at amanda@jacksonvilleoregon.org. You can also check-out our website at www.jacksonvilleoregon.org for more information, itinerary ideas, and weekly events.
