Focus on Hanley Farm – September 2019

Break out your love beads, head bands and bell bottom jeans for our September 8 celebration of Woodstock’s 50th anniversary at Hanley Farm. From 2:00-5:00pm, this will be the “far out” event of the summer! In addition to breaking out your bell bottoms and beads, don’t forget your macramé vest, tie-dyed tops and peasant blouses. PLUS, remember your t-shirt with the peace sign? If you can find it, wear it. The Woodstock celebration is going to include an afternoon of music performed by the Rogue Suspects Woodstock Band, along with some very special friends. Come for the great music, food, wine, friends and fun! Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.sohs.org. Funds from this event will help Southern Oregon Historical Society restore the historic buildings at Hanley Farm, aiding in the goal to move the farm closer to becoming a living history center serving thousands of visitors each year.

Summer Sundays at Hanley Farm—Every Sunday, noon-4:00pm, the farm is open for family picnicking, house tours, and family fun. On September 1, enhance your picnic with the purchase of a wood-oven-fired pizza! Musicians may bring instruments and join in a music jam session! Admittance is always FREE! Windows in Time: The Grand Dams of the Upper Rogue—In the winter of 1964, the Rogue River caused devastating damage, altering “life in the Rogue Valley permanently.” Three dams were built to provide flood control, but only two operate. At the September WIT, author Dennis Ellingson will discuss the construction of these dams and current flood control efforts.
