The Britt Music and Arts Festival began as a classical music festival in 1963. Britt offered classical music exclusively until the pavilion was constructed in 1978. The pavilion enabled expansion to the current multi-disciplinary format. Inspired by our intimate and scenic hillside venue, we provide diverse live performances, an incomparable orchestra season and dynamic education programs that create a sense of discovery and community.
Britt benefits the community in several ways. We present approximately 30 popular music and comedy concerts per year, bringing well-known artists to Southern Oregon. In addition, we present a three-week orchestra season performed by the Britt Festival Orchestra (BFO), led by music director and conductor Teddy Abrams.
Britt Education and Engagement provides a variety of benefits to the community. During year-round Residencies, Britt brings world-class musicians into local classrooms, kindergarten through college, where musicians perform and interact with students. During the summers, free BrittKids Koncerts are offered for kids of all ages. Launched in 2016, the Fellowship Program provides aspiring musicians the chance to rehearse and perform alongside members of the Britt Orchestra under the baton of Music Director Teddy Abrams, be mentored by professional orchestral musicians.
Volunteer opportunities include assisting at concerts as event staff, ushers, clean-up, parking attendants, raffle and snack sales, and many other positions.
Britt is a non-profit that relies on membership, business partnership and donations to accomplish all of these activities. Information about membership and donations can be found at BrittFest.org. Donations can be made to Education, Orchestra and Endowment funds.
