MEDFORD, OR — Britt’s Education and Engagement department announces its lineup of camps and workshops for 2016. The programs focus on a variety of music genres, and serve students from preschoolers through adults. With the goal of providing the community opportunities to explore the act of creative expression through music, Britt collaborates with teaching musicians to create meaningful and accessible programs.
The schedule includes:
Rogue Roots & String Camp (previously announced)
Dates: March 21-15, 2016
Description: Offered in partnership with The Modern Roots Foundation, this is a unique musical experience, in the tradition of a fiddle camp. Students (including beginners) playing acoustic string instruments will be led in a week of instruction, with an emphasis on traditional roots music. Faculty will be led by fiddler Hanneke Cassel.
Ages: 8-18, with a special half-day “Tiny Notes” track for students ages 4-7.
Skill level: Beginner to advanced
Tuition: $195, or $95 for Tiny Notes track
Jam Band Camp
Dates: June 20-24, 2016
Description: This program is designed for young musicians who understand the fundamentals of their chosen instrument, and are now ready to explore new musical ground. Jam Band Camp will offer a fun and supportive environment to encourage collaboration, improvisation and experimentation. The camp will be led by pianist David Scoggin and guitarist Dirk Price.
Ages: 13-18

Guitar Workshop
Dates: August 25-28, 2016
Seven of southern Oregon’s finest guitarists will lead a four-day exploration of guitar techniques, including flamenco, Hawaiian slack key, bluegrass flat pick, classical, jazz, blues and rock. The Guitar Workshop Faculty members are Ed Dunsavage, Glenn Freese, Page Hamilton, Michael “Hawkeye” Herman, Mark Nelson, Grant Ruiz and Joseph Thompson.
Ages: 14 through adult
Skill level: Beginner to advanced
Tuition: $350-400, with discounts available for students
