Jacksonville Review – November 2024

WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I MOVED TO JACKSONVILLE six years ago, someone suggested that we get involved with the Jacksonville Boosters to meet people and get involved with the community. Our thoughts first went to the typical high school booster organizations we were familiar with from other communities. But wait, there is no high school in Jacksonville, so we wondered who and what are the Boosters?

The Boosters are two separate related entities, the Boosters Club and the Boosters Foundation, with a single mission of preserving the history and livability of Jacksonville. The Club is a 501(c) (4) non-profit organization formed in 1963 and the Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit formed in 2003. The Club provides volunteer support for various projects within Jacksonville while the Foundation provides financial support for these projects as well as other non-profit and government organizations within Jacksonville that share and support the mission of the Boosters.

As you explore this great community, you’ll see evidence of the Boosters’ volunteer and financial support throughout. Just since the beginning of 2023, the Foundation has approved $95,273 in grants and donations detailed here in list.

In addition, the Club and Foundation provide volunteer and financial support for the ongoing maintenance of Britt Gardens, Veterans Memorial Park and the Beekman Arboretum.

The Foundation would not have been able to fund these grants and donations without the generosity and support of our donors. As the Foundation kicks off its Fall Fundraising Campaign, we invite you to become members and donors of the Boosters so that we can further expand the scope of our work and support on behalf of Jacksonville.

For more information on how to get involved, please visit our website at jacksonvilleboosters.org or contact us at foundation@jacksonvilleboosters.org. Applications are also available at the Jacksonville Visitor Center.
