Southern Oregon natives, Scott and Amy Dunn, have opened Boom Town Saloon in the fabulous space on the corner of California and Third Streets (most previously the site of LodeStar Bar). Scott has been a commercial pilot since 1981, and started his own helicopter company, Heli-Dunn Helicopter Co. in 2000. Amy worked for the Grange Co-Op for the past ten years. They were raised in the area on Sterling Creek and Anderson Creek, where their families were neighbors.
The Dunns signed the lease for the lower level of the building in mid-July, and have made some changes since that time. Two new high-definition TV’s, additional lighting, wider back exit doors and an improved Bose stereo system are some of the improvements. The shuffleboard is still there – and is now FREE, with tourneys scheduled for Sundays. The upstairs space, known as Redman Hall, is owned – and will be operated by Merry Ann Hamlin. She is reportadly planning on making the hall a meeting and event venue – The Jacksonville Review will obtain details soon and file a report online.
Boom Town Saloon is open seven days a week from 11am to 2 am, and offers Del Rio wine as their Tap House Wine, and twelve to fifteen local wines by the glass and bottle. Oregon beers, including the popular Ninkasi, Blue Moon and Ashland Amber are also on tap. Boom Town has an on and off premise liquor license, so folks may buy beer and wine to go also.
Food offerings include pizza, hotdogs, shrimp, burgers, burritos, pulled pork sandwiches, tri-tip sandwiches, clam chowder and chocolate espresso mouse. These are prepared in-house and by Gourmet-To-Go Catering, a local catering company. Events will include Tuesday – Karaoke, Wednesday – Locals 10% Off, Thursday – Ladies Night $3 Well Drinks, Friday – $2.50 Jello Shots, Saturday- Any Local Oregon Beer, Wine or Liquor 10% Off, and Sunday – Shuffleboard Tourney and $3.50 Bloody Marys. Happy Hour will be from 4pm to 7pm Monday through Friday.
The GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION is planned for the entire day on St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th. Bagpipers will play at 7pm for a special treat, and corned beef and cabbage will be offered, along with other food and drink specials.
The phone number is 541-702-2252.
