Sipping & Playing in Jacksonville – April 2026
IN JACKSONVILLE, I’m always on the lookout for two things: a spot with bubbles at brunch and a place where I can grab a really good deli sandwich. So, I was pretty excited to discover Black Barn Kitchen & Deli at the Bigham Knoll campus. It checks both boxes in the best way.
The space itself is worth a visit. Set inside the charming old schoolhouse building, Black Barn Kitchen & Deli has that warm, family-run feel that immediately puts you at ease. We brought the kids and had fun looking around at all the unique touches and old photographs on the walls. It feels relaxed, welcoming, and very historic Jacksonville.
Brunch was a win across the table. Their mimosa options make it easy to settle in for a slow morning, and the food absolutely delivers. The Sunrise Sando was exactly what I want in a breakfast sandwich. But the real star might be the sourdough bread it comes on. It is seriously so good. My son ordered the classic egg breakfast (The Reggie) and immediately commented on the bread, which honestly says everything. Their focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients really comes through in the quality of the food.
As someone who works from home and occasionally just needs a solid lunch sandwich, I am especially happy to have their scratch-made deli around the corner. It works well whether you want to sit and eat or grab something on the go, which I have already done more than once. One tip: have them toast the sourdough for your sandwich. Trust me on this. They also run daily lunch specials, which makes it fun to pop in and try something new even if you have your usual favorite. And when the weather is nice, they have outdoor tables where you can enjoy your sandwich and soak up a little vitamin D on your lunch break.
Full transparency, I have not made it in for dinner yet. Trusty friends have been and say the evening menu is just as strong as brunch and lunch. A quick look at the dinner offerings shows everything from elevated comfort plates to a very tempting steak sando. It is definitely on my list.
They also offer catering and event options on the Bigham Knoll campus, which is such a nice addition to the Jacksonville food scene. Brunch runs on the weekends, with deli and dinner service available most of the week.
Black Barn Kitchen & Deli is one of those easy local spots that fits real life. Brunch with friends, a casual family stop, or a quick and very satisfying sandwich. Jacksonville friends, this one is worth a visit.
