In early June 2016, Jacksonville Woodlands Association received a generous $1300 donation from Bella Union Restaurant. When Bella Union co-owner Christian Hamilton wrote the check, he said he was very proud to have done so! The Bella’s Jay Stumpff told the Review that the donation was a gift to help the JWA continue its excellent work in the community. The funds were generated from the $10 cover charge from the Bella’s recent Oysters & Ales Season Blowout Party held in June. Stumpff and Hamilton were quick to point out that the Bella has been a very popular post-hike destination for many years with locals and visitors! The JWA’s Larry Smith says the funds will likely be used to offset $5000+ in repair/replacement costs for the Jackson Forks Bridge on the Sarah Zigler Trail, installed nearly 20 years ago that’s now showing its age with sagging and rotting parts. This is the second major donation to the JWA by the Bella Union in recent years. As generous corporate community members, Bella Union also donated $1300 to the Medford National Little League Association from this year’s O&A Blowout Party.
