With recent evacuation orders on everyone’s mind, here is a quick reminder of what the different levels of evacuation mean for you.

Be Ready—Level 1 Evacuation: Know the dangers in your area, this is the time to prepare in case of an emergency, have an evacuation plan for you and your family. Know different ways out of the City in case the one you always use is not accessible. Know what personal items you will take in case you’re evacuated. All residents should be at this level of readiness at all times.

Be Set—Level 2 Evacuation: This level indicates there is significant danger to your area, and residents should either voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family or friends outside the affected area. If you choose to remain, be ready to evacuate on a moment’s notice.

Go—Level 3 Evacuation: Danger to your area is current or imminent and you should evacuate immediately. If you choose to disregard this advisement, emergency services may not be able to assist you. This will be the last notice you will receive.

For further information on evacuations, you can stop by the Jacksonville Fire station and pick up a brochure or contact Jackson County Emergency management.
