For seven years, Linda Farland and her crew at Assist Your Move have helped people navigate the stressful and physically demanding tasks involved with moving. And now, with a new fleet of trucks and storage facility, Assist Your Move handles every aspect involved with a move. “I started this business after my father passed and I needed to move my mother from a 4,000 square foot home to the Rogue Valley Manor,” Linda said. She took on the formidable challenge of helping her mom sort through years of accumulation—a process that can create upset and anxiety. “I would ask things like, ‘Why do you have all this? Why did you save this?’” Six months along in a one-year effort, Linda told her son she thought she saw a business there. Often the family is not near, are unwilling or unable to invest the time. “There’s nobody helping these people who are aging up.”

Once AYM joined the National Association of Senior Move Managers, they learned a lot about the industry and business began to flourish. Seniors made up the bulk of Assist Your Move’s initial focus but, as growth happened, they began catering to everyone. But don’t get the idea Linda’s business is a typical moving company. Assist Your Move is a complete moving concierge with a heart at its core. Emotions surface when sorting through decades of memories. AYM aims to bring compassion to the process. “I do a lot of consulting with my clients as to where to go, what’s their next step. That’s a big piece, especially as you get older.” Linda will even help them find a safe living situation where they feel at home, if needed. She’s thought through the entire process involved with a move and successfully covered all the bases.

“We can manage every aspect of your move. Not only do we pack, help you downsize, move you, unpack and organize your home, but we then go back into the home and either have an estate sale (only for moving clients) or we consign or donate items no longer wanted. We try to keep everything out of the trash but it’s not always possible. We have charities we work with. The Siskiyou Rescue Ranch that saves abandoned horses is coming next week to pick up a truckload of unwanted items. We also work with trusted window washers, house cleaners, handymen, so we can completely prep your home for sale prior to turning it over to the Realtors. The Realtors love that.”

“Going into someone’s home is extremely personal. Most of my crew has been with me for five years. They’re all trained, background checked, and drug tested. Knowing this gives our clients peace of mind.”

AYM offers temporary, secure storage while you’re remodeling or awaiting your new home, and soon will receive merchandise from decorators, etc. during transition.

Following a free in-home evaluation of your needs, pricing is by contract and calculated by estimated hours and scope of the project.
