Britt is now accepting applications for two summer programs: the returning String Quartet Academy, and the pre-concert music series on Britt’s Performance Garden stage.

The String Quartet Academy returns to Britt July 27-August 1, and is designed for intermediate to advanced violin, viola and cello students, ages 13-18. The Academy will be taught by the Dover Quartet, who has become an in-demand ensemble after their sweep of the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition. The New Yorker recently dubbed them, “the young American string quartet of the moment.” The Dover Quartet also has ties to southern Oregon, as cellist Camden Shaw grew up in Ashland. The Academy will include a week of intensive study, including ensemble rehearsals, master classes, quartet coaching sessions and a public performance. For a full description of the String Quartet Academy, including tuition costs and application information, visit brittfest.org/stringquartet.

Applications are also now open for the pre-concert music series for the 2015 summer series. Artists in all genres are encouraged to apply, and selected acts will perform on Britt’s Performance Garden stage prior to the main stage concerts. Acts are selected based on quality, date availability and compatibility with main stage acts, and artists are given an honorarium. Preparations for the 2015 Britt season are underway. The Classical Festival lineup will be announced on February 5, and the full 2015 season will be announced on April 9. Information on programs, membership and more is available at brittfest.org.

Inspired by its intimate and scenic hillside venue, Britt provides diverse live performances, an incomparable classical festival and dynamic education programs that create a sense of discovery and community. Since its grassroots beginnings in 1963, the non-profit organization has grown from a two-week chamber music festival to a summer-long series of concerts in a variety of genres, including a three-week Classical Festival, and year-round education and engagement programs.
