These little bites are easy and fun and make a great snack for the kiddo’s or a respectable dessert served with a side of vanilla ice cream. Easier than making a whole pie and this recipe is not fried… so there’s that! Indulge and enjoy!

1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup applesauce
(unsweetened is preferred)
1 1/2 cups rough grated apples
(about 2 medium peeled apples)
Apple Cider Glaze:
2 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup + 2 tablespoons apple cider
Instructions

- Whisk the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together.
- Place the melted butter and sugar in a separate bowl and combine. Add the egg, vanilla, and applesauce, and mix till smooth.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet till just combined… don’t over do it! Carefully fold in the grated apples.
- Scoop out 1 tablespoon of batter and place them a few inches apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10 minutes then remove from the oven and cool slightly.
- Turn your oven to broil and preheat.
- Combine the ingredients for the glaze until it’s thin but pourable.
- Brush the fritters with about half of the glaze then broil for about 3 minutes until the glaze bubbles …. don’t burn it!
- Remove from the oven and brush more glaze on top and serve.
Now who’s got a nice tall glass of cold milk!
