COHEN BOVEE, a 3rd-grader, is the winner of this year’s Jacksonville Elementary School Art Poster Contest! His piece is titled, “Intergalactic Paint” based upon the theme for the contest, “Art of the Future!” Cohen’s favorite project so far this year has been the Lorax drawings his class did in honor of Dr. Seuss Day.

Mark your calendars for the 19th Annual Jacksonville Elementary School Art Exhibition—Thursday, April 17, 5-7pm, at the Jacksonville Elementary Gymnasium—it’s always a fun show and is open to the public!

Volunteer Art Program Director, Kyleen Brodie, notes the JVE Art Program is a very special volunteer-driven program. “The focus is on education and exposure to fine arts with students learning about famous artists, key art terms and concepts.” Students work on projects including various painting techniques, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, and drawing. The program has been in existence and has been PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) funded since 2004.

Kyleen notes, The art exhibition each Spring to display the students’ projects is possible only because of generous local business donations, Art Committee volunteers and parent art teachers.”

Join the amazing student-artists for a fun night Celebrating Art of the Future!
