Jacksonville Review – February 2024
ONE EXPERIENCE THAT CAN INSPIRE HOPE FOR HUMANITY is hearing truly fine classical chamber music played, without amplification, by some of the world’s best musicians, in a beautiful venue with excellent acoustics. The presenters of the new winter concert series at Jacksonville City Hall endeavor to provide just that experience.
Jacksonville OR Friends of Classical Music, an all-volunteer non-profit 501c3 organization, was established in 2023 with a singular mission: to bring winter time classical music concerts to Jacksonville. Our venue, the Assembly Room upstairs at New City hall, was graciously provided by the City of Jacksonville. It appears there was pent-up demand for chamber music as all three concerts quickly sold out. Even so, promotion is a necessity. Thank you Jacksonville Review for getting the word out. Thank you Britt Music and Arts Festival for directly supporting our concert presentations. And, while we are thanking our supporters, we look to the beautiful Magnolia Hotel, located on 5th Street directly across from New City Hall. Please see our website at www.jorfcm.org for up-to-date information about our concerts, our organization, and how to make a donation that is tax deductible as allowed by law.
With the unexpectedly high demand for tickets this season, our vision for winter time classical concerts in Jacksonville has turned to the future. We will be posting information on our website about concerts for the 2024/2025 season when information becomes available. It will take the generosity of the community, endowments, and/or grants to sustain these concerts into another season and beyond. We are grateful to our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters for making this season possible, and look forward to seeing you at the concerts this year and beyond. If you are interested is providing financial support to our organization please contact us through our website, www.jorfcm.org.
