Jacksonville Community Center Update by Sue Miler, JCC Board President – November 2022

We invite community members to join us on Saturday, November 26, for our After the Tree Lighting Holiday Party, which will begin around 5:45pm, directly after the Christmas tree is lit on the Jacksonville Courthouse grounds. We have had this event for several years now, and it is a free celebration for families and friends following the Tree Lighting gathering. At JCC, which is located at the corner of 4th and Main, we will have free refreshments, including warm cocoa, fun crafts for kids, and the opportunity to win some seasonal door prizes. The Center will be decorated in full holiday trim. If you have not yet visited JCC, come to our event on November 26 to learn more about what the Center offers.

Fall Fundraising Campaign—In spring and fall, we reach out to our community members to support the Community Center financially. Many in our community believe that the Center is funded by the City of Jacksonville. Although we have a strong working relationship with the City, the Center is an independent nonprofit that must annually raise an operating budget to carry out our mission and to keep our doors open. We do this through a combination of grants, class fees, rental revenue, and very importantly, through individual donations from members of the community. If you have attended classes or presentations at the Center, or come for a family or business event, you know what a great addition the Center has been to Jacksonville.

A JCC donor has offered to match donations up to the amount of $7,500 this fall, so the impact of your gift will be doubled. Please give generously to our campaign—we are grateful for any amount, large or small, that you can contribute to keep this valuable resource operating in our community! To donate online, visit our website at www.jacksonvillecommunitycenter.org. Or mail your donation to Jacksonville Community Center, P.O. Box 1435, Jacksonville 97530. Thank you for your support!
