WITH THE 4TH OF JULY rapidly approaching, the Jacksonville Fire Department and city staff would like to remind the public that Jacksonville prohibits the use of Fireworks within the City limits and also discourages the use of fireworks outside of City limits for the following reasons:
Wildfire Risk: We are surrounded by forests and grassy areas that are highly vulnerable to fires, especially during the dry summer months. Fireworks, with their sparks and unpredictable flight patterns, pose a significant risk of starting fires that could rapidly spread and cause extensive damage.
Safety Concerns: Fireworks can lead to injuries, ranging from minor burns to severe trauma.
By banning fireworks, Jacksonville aims to reduce the number of firework-related accidents, ensuring a safer environment for all residents, including children and pets.
Enforcement and Penalties—To ensure compliance with the fireworks ban, the city has implemented strict enforcement measures. Violations of the ban can result in fines and, in severe cases, legal action. The city encourages residents to report any illegal fireworks activity to the police.
Jacksonville’s ban on fireworks reflects a forward-thinking approach to community safety and environmental stewardship, by prioritizing the well-being of its residents and the preservation of its natural surroundings. Let’s all work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for everyone.
