I’ve been participating in the Food Project for a little over a year, when it first started in Medford. It’s a wonderful project and it makes me feel great being able to help. It’s such an easy way to give food and to help out people who are in need.

Volunteers collect filled Bags

The Food Project collected almost 250,000 pounds of food, which then gets distributed to local food banks, in 2011. I love driving up to people’s homes and finding the green bags outside their front doors…it’s such a great feeling that so many others are caring and supportive! It makes me proud!

More than 5,000 donors are already participating in Jackson County and we hope to grow in 2012! If anyone wants to sign up for the Food Project in your town, visit www.MedfordFoodProject.com , www.AshlandFoodProject.com, or www.TalentFoodProject.com. My husband and I live in Jacksonville and we collect here, too, and we have people collecting in Central Point, Eagle Point, and throughout the county!

Thanks to everyone for their generosity, making this Food Project so successful! I’m so happy to be part of the community that works together in this way. And I’m happy to say that Jo Parker of this paper is also a Neighborhood Coordinator!
