Summer Camps!

Kids of the Kingdom Summer Camps 2011!

This summer we are offering a variety of different camps for children ages 3-8! We are offering Adventure Camps, Wee Speak Spanish Camps as well as Instruments of the Orchestra Camps. Kids of the Kingdom Summer Adventure Camps: These camps are designed for children ages 3-8 who are interested in exploring fun and interesting themes that range from Pirates to Egypt! Children will be divided into two separate camps in different classrooms, yet during the same hours; 3-5 years old children and 6-8 year old children. All Adventure Camps will run Monday through Friday from 8:00-11:30.

Price: 25$ a day or 100$ a week.

Camp Dates:

June 6^th-June 10^th Cooking Camp. Students will get a behind the scenes tour of a local restaurant, meet professional chefs, practice their baking skills and explore kitchen gadgets. Bring your apron for this hands-on adventure!

June 13^th-17^th Ahoy! Pirate Adventures. Come sail the seven seas with us as we search for buried treasure, build ships, enjoy lunch in the Crows Nest and finish the week with a pirate water battle!

June 20-24^th Deep Sea Underwater Adventures. We will be exploring life under the sea, making daily fieldtrips to our pond and enjoying a tropical luau.

June 27^th-July 1^st Dinosaur Detectives. Bring your investigating skills as we search for clues from the past. Students will create and study fossils, create cave paintings and make a trip to the Crater Rock Museum to see real dinosaur eggs!

July 11^th-July 15^th Egyptian Discoveries. Get ready to walk like an Egyptian! Students will enjoy mummy races, building pyramids, making paper and creating hieroglyphics.

July 18^th-22^nd Oregon Nature. Come explore the Britt Trails with us! Students will make daily fieldtrips into different local ecosystems; marshes, forests, grasslands and ponds where we will learn about the plants, insects and animals of Oregon.

July 25^th-29^th Art Camp: Murals and Sculptures. Help us create a work of art! We will work together to create a masterpiece to be displayed in Jacksonville! Each student will also get the opportunity to mold their own clay sculpture, fire it in our kiln and glaze it!

August 8^th-August 12^th Medieval Magic: Princesses and Knights. Castles, Princesses, Knights and Magic! Come prepared for a week of dramatic play, castle building and flag waving fun.

August 15^th-August 19^th Mystery Mammals. Every day we will solve another Mammal Mystery! Students will use clues, guest visits and games to discover new and interesting mammals.

August 22^nd-August 26^th Lights, Camera, Action Drama Camp! All families are invited to our end of summer dramatic performance on the stage in the Bigham Knoll Ballroom! Children will participate in building a set, learning songs and lines and preparing for a big show under lights!

Wee Speak Spanish Camps: Come learn a new language! Monday through Friday from 12:00-2:00 our Spanish classes will be offered. Small classroom ratios offer children a hands on learning environment that is educational and fun. Wee Speak Spanish Camps give students the chance to learn Spanish culture, vocabulary and traditions. Take a trip around the world with our amazing Spanish Camps!

Price: 10$ an hour.

Camp Dates:

June 6^th-June 10^th Our World. We will be studying our amazing planet and exploring where Spanish speaking countries are located.  We will touch on the origins of the Spanish language as well as the different cultures and traditions that make each Spanish speaking country unique.

June 13^th-June 17^th Puerto Rico. We will be sailing the seas to Puerto Rico to discover the fun history and culture of this enchanting island.

June 20^th-June 24^th Ecuador. Exploring all the culture, land & animals this small diverse country has to offer. Get ready for an adventure in the Galapagos!

June 27^th– July 1^st Chile. Taking a look at this amazingly diverse country, from the dry desert to the beautiful ice lands of Patagonia.

July 11^th-July 15^th Ancient Civilizations. Explore the history and mystery of ancient people when we take a trip back through time to relive the amazing cultures of the Mayans & the Aztecs.

July 18^th-July 22^nd Peru. We will continue our exploration of ancient civilizations by taking a look at the Incas, we will also look at Peruvian culture today & explore the Andes!

July 25^th-July 29^th Mexico. Learning about and mimicking great Mexican artists who also use their medium to inspire change throughout their country.

August 8^th-August 12^th Spain.  Delving into the beautiful country by looking at the amazing but different style of castles influenced by the Moors.

August 15^th-August 19^th Costa Rica. Your child will be learning about the beautiful Costa Rica.  Looking into where Costa Rica is located, it’s unique rainforest and the amazing animals that inhabit this enchanting land.  We will also look into how the rainforest influences in the people of Costa Rica.

Instruments of the Orchestra Camps: These camps will focus on one family of instruments each week. Students will get to hear, see and try these amazing music makers! Each Friday of the camp the students will have the opportunity to meet a professional musician who will demonstrate that instrument for the class. These camps will also connect to the music of the Britt Theater, including artists such as Willie Nelson, ABBA, The Beatles, Charlie Daniels and Mary Chapin Carpenter. The final week will be a culmination and will only be open to students who attend one or more camps. These camps are M-F, 11:30-12:15 for the first session and 12:30-1:15 for the second session. Space is limited so register ASAP!

Price: 45$ a camp, Instruments of the Orchestra is not offered on a daily basis.

August 15^th-Augsut 19^th: Culmination (Student must have attended at least one previous camp)
