Jacksonville Review – April 2026
EVIE KALINA, a 5th-grader at Jacksonville Elementary School, is the winner of this year’s Art Poster Contest! Her piece is titled, “A Different View,” and based upon the theme for the contest, “Kindness Grows.” Evie’s favorite projects so far have been clay animals from 2nd-grade and this year’s Chinese watercolor koi fish.
Mark your calendars for the 20th-Annual Jacksonville Elementary School Art Exhibition, Tuesday, April 21, from 5-6:30pm, at the Jacksonville Elementary Gymnasium—it’s always a fun show and is open to the public!
Volunteer Art Program Director, Kyleen Brodie, notes that the JVE Art Program is a very special volunteer-driven program. “The focus is on education and exposure to fine arts with students learning about famous artists, key art terms and concepts.” Students work on projects including various painting techniques, mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, poetry, and drawing. The extracurricular program has been in existence and PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) funded since 2004.
Kyleen notes, “The art exhibition each Spring brings together a year’s worth of student talent and hundreds of volunteer hours. We are so thankful for local business donations and the many parent art teachers who make this program a success!”
Join the amazing student-artists for a fun night celebrating art!
