Sipping & Playing in Jacksonville – October 2025

LOOKING FOR A SPOT in Jacksonville that’s full of charm, cozy vibes, and has really good wine? Head to Remotion, now located at 105 W. Main Street, corner of W. Main and S. 3rd Street. From the stained-glass entryway and grand staircase to the playful wallpaper and comfy lounge chairs, it feels like stepping into both history and a really fun evening. Whether you’re hanging with friends playing cards, on a casual date night, or just need a quick glass after work, Remotion hits the sweet spot.

Here’s why I love it:

A wine list with personality: Remotion specializes in small-lot Rogue Valley wines, from crisp sparkling and rosé to bold reds like Grenache, Barbera, and Malbec Reserve. Every bottle feels special, and flights make it easy to explore. Their wines consistently win gold medals or 90+ point ratings, all while remaining approachable in price.

The people behind the pour: What makes Remotion even more special is the couple behind it. Ben and Lori Grable are the heart of this winery. They’re not just making wine; they’re pouring their passion into every detail, from the way the wines are crafted to how guests are welcomed. You can feel their care in every corner of the space and in every sip of wine.

Patio goals: Out back is a serene patio. It’s hidden, quiet, and feels like a little secret garden. On hot summer afternoons, the misters keep things cool, but in the fall, it becomes the perfect place to enjoy the crisp air with a glass of red in hand.

Inside style: Step inside and you’ll find vintage wallpaper, old photos, and cozy seating that make the space playful without being fussy. There’s just something about sipping wine in a room that feels both historic and laid-back.

Food & dinners: The menu is small but smart: charcuterie, a Greek board, and even a kids’ plate to keep everyone happy. Every other Thursday at 6pm, Remotion also hosts a bimonthly “Single Plate” dinner with dessert for just $17/pp. Both the everyday bites and these special dinners pair perfectly with the wine and are announced via email, Facebook, and Instagram, so be sure to follow them on social media for all their great updates.

Saturday afternoons with live music: Saturdays bring live music, often paired with a pop-up dinner. Guests can reserve tables and pre-order food. Like the dinners, these events are announced through email and social media.

A wine club with perks: Remotion’s wine club is free to join and comes with plenty of benefits including Ben himself cooking a complimentary pairing for you at their quarterly release parties.

Stay the night: If you’re looking to turn it into more than just an evening, you can stay upstairs in one of the three suites. The Orth House was built in 1880 and the rooms blend that old-school character with modern touches. It’s the easiest “sip and stay” you’ll ever find.

Vinyl Nights are back: This fall, Vinyl Nights are returning to Remotion! Bring in your favorite record (or a few) and they’ll spin it while you sip. As a thank you, you get \$2 off a glass or 20% off a bottle. Wine, music, and community, what’s not to love?

Remotion is open Wednesday through Sunday, though hours vary a bit from day to day, so it’s always smart to check their website before you go. With cozy wines, hidden patio vibes, live music, dinners, and a wine club full of perks, Remotion is the perfect fall gathering place. Add in Ben and Lori’s passion and you’ve got one more reason Jacksonville is so easy to love.
