News from Britt Hill – September 2025
AS BRITT PREPARES to wrap up for the season, community is on my mind. For the last several months, we’ve welcomed tens of thousands of patrons to over 40 concerts and events, representing a wide demographic of ages, backgrounds, and interests. On nights when the stars shine and the crickets chirp so loudly you can hear them over the drum beats, there are extraordinary moments when 2,200 people sing together in one giant chorus, overwhelming the amplified band with our voices. Community is everything at Britt.
There are just a handful of events remaining before we close the stage doors for another year, and I would love to spend them with you, our Jacksonville community. Belt out some of the greatest 70s and 80s ballads of love and heartbreak with Chicago on September 2; welcome Eugene native Mat Kearney on September 6; and experience the genre-defying electronic music of Thievery Corporation on September 7. Gregory Alan Isakov, on September 9, promises another perfect night of music made for stargazing and the first outing of your favorite cozy cardigan. And as a grand finale, Hermanos Gutiérrez plays out the season with a night of dreamy duo acoustic guitars (and my personal most-anticipated show of the season—and many of you who trusted me on last year’s pick with Brittany Howard and Michael Kiwanuka can attest that I always choose my most-anticipated show wisely).
We’re also partnering this year with the fabulous Coaliciòn Fortaleza to bring El Mercadito to Britt on September 13, with a performance by the incredible La Doña—a San Francisco-based artist who combines cumbia, mariachi, bolero, and more with hip-hop, jazz, and reggaeton. El Mercadito is admission-free and is a market that includes art, music, food, and activities for the whole family.
September is a wonderful month to gather at Britt, and I hope to see you there. Until then,
All best, Abby
