FOR THE FIRST CONCERT OF OUR SECOND SEASON, we are proud to present, on Sunday, January 26, 2025, the renowned Jasper String Quartet. This ensemble is celebrated as one of the preeminent American string quartets of the twenty-first century. The second concert of our three-concert series will feature pianist Thomas Pandolfi, who is known throughout the music world for his passionate artistry and amazing technique. Thomas is considered a leading interpreter of the works of George Gershwin and will be playing an all-Gershwin concert on February 23, 2025. Finally, for this season, on March 30, 2025, JORFCM presents The Aeolus Quartet. This quartet has performed across the globe and has been awarded prizes at nearly every major musical competition in the United States.
As the primary organizer for these concerts, I am both happy and sorry to say that most of our performances have sold out months in advance…happy because selling out early indicates the demand in Jacksonville for classical music…sorry because there are not enough seats for everyone who wants to attend. It should be noted that ticket sales only account for a small portion of the cost for presenting a season of world-class chamber music. We are looking for donations and endowments to sustain this series in the future and possibly expand our offerings with more concerts in subsequent years.
The wonderful performance hall upstairs at City Hall is available thanks to the City of Jacksonville with special appreciation going to Mayor Bowen and Jeff Alvis, City Administrator, for originally approving our concerts. While in Jacksonville, our musicians reside in comfort courtesy of Nikki and Jeff Bale, owners of the Magnolia Hotel located directly across from City Hall. Supplying proper chairs and music stands for our string players is thanks to Britt Festivals, specifically Eric Thomas, manager of the Britt Festival Orchestra. Many others, too numerous to mention here, have volunteered to help present JORFCM concerts and are much appreciated. And, of course, we cannot thank our donors enough. Please see our ad next page.
